Jacob Rothman – Member of Board of Directors

Mr. Rothman is originally from Santa Barbara, California, and graduated from Bowdoin College with a double major in Religious Studies and Psychology. After college, he helped manage his family’s manufacturing business in San Francisco before moving to China in 2006, where he founded a design-focused trading company in Shanghai. He later merged this business with Velong Enterprises in Yangjiang, Guangdong Province, helping expand it into one of the world’s largest manufacturers of grilling and kitchen tools. Velong now operates wholly owned factories in Cambodia, joint ventures in India, and extensive facilities in China.

Under the leadership of Mr. Rothman and his business partner, Velong has grown into a global leader in consumer product development and manufacturing. The company supplies major international brands and chain stores across North America, Europe, and other key global markets, while leveraging the industrial scale and efficiency of its China-based operations. A key division of the company, Platform88, helps bring new ideas to life by supporting innovation, guiding startups, and advancing sustainable product solutions.

Sustainability is central to Mr. Rothman’s approach—not only through the use of recycled and plant-based materials, but also through long-term investment in the communities where Velong operates. In Cambodia and India, this includes creating jobs, supporting education and skills development, and partnering with local organizations to promote economic and social progress.

Through this commitment to responsible manufacturing, community engagement, and global innovation, Mr. Rothman continues to shape Velong’s role as a values-driven manufacturer serving the world’s leading consumer brands.
