Melissa Wang – Chief Financial Officer & Member of Board of Directors

Melissa was born and raised in Harbin, China. She came to the U.S. for education, she earned a B.B.A. at Adelphi University and a Master Business Taxation at University of Southern California. She holds an active CPA license in the State of California.

As a China-born professional who has built her career through education and opportunity, Melissa is deeply committed to empowering women and girls through access to quality education. She understands firsthand the transformative power of educational investment in young women’s lives and brings both personal passion and professional rigor to this mission.

Currently serving as Head of Tax at a multi-billion-dollar global organization, Melissa has built and led four tax teams across multiple jurisdictions, establishing robust compliance frameworks and driving operational excellence. Her expertise spans global tax strategy, financial operations, regulatory compliance, and cross-functional leadership – skills directly applicable to nonprofit financial stewardship and sustainability.

Melissa applies her technical tax expertise and strategic financial leadership to advance Coral Tree’s mission. Melissa and her husband reside in Northern California with their three Bernese Mountain Dogs.
